One of the largest US telecommunications company and one of the largest media conglomerates. It is the largest provider of both local and long distance telephone service in the United States, as well as one of the largest providers of wireless services in the United States (85.1 million users). The total number of AT & T customers more than 150 million people. American Telephone and Telegraph (AT & T Corporation) was established in 1885. For a long time the United States has a monopoly on long-distance and local telephony market. In 1983-1984 years under pressure from the US Department of Justice under the antitrust process identified business segment of local telephony and focused on long-distance services. One of the selected companies in 1984 was named Southwestern Bell Corporation. In 1995, the company changed its name to SBC Communications.
